Resident Conductor: David Chaulk
David Chaulk studied music performance and composition in Canada and the US and performed and recorded with some of North America's leading classical ensembles.
In 1994, David moved to New Zealand and has since worked extensively with the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra, the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra, the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra and the Vector Wellington Orchestra.
Additionally, David has performed as Principal Trombone with the National Band of New Zealand and National Australia Brass. In 2003 and 2004, David became the first brass performer in 30 years to win back-to-back New Zealand Brass Champion of Champions titles.
As a brass band conductor David has won national championships with Pelorus Trust Wellington Brass and Hutt City Brass. He has guest conducted leading brass bands includng the Leyland band, the Fairey (Geneva) Band, the Scottish Co-op Band, Gothenburg Brass and the International, Canadian and Chicago Staff Bands of The Salvation Army.
David has taught low brass on the faculties of the University of Toronto and the New Zealand School of Music.
David became Resident Conductor of Dalewool Auckland Brass in mid-2011 and the band is extremely privileged to have such a high quality musician at the front.
